I told you that we all living things are robots. Now let me add we all living robots are made of replicating matters little different from crystals. If you drive a car a mile away and leave it there either the car will stay there or some other people will take it from there. I, the robot is programmed, will go somewhere and comeback to my home. Both the robot and the house are just made of materials/elements available on earth. These two have a bond, it's combination of programs, but living things are programmed to change the house too occasionally. Some can have many houses. World is the house for all. 
I am replicating machines moving/automated estate, colony of cells bound by hides, which is programmed to know how does it all work! You may say that Boodhooram, the robot, has been made with a defective program. Yes error occurs in self replication, we sometimes made error in self replication program of programs too! We do not know all the causes and effects, we have programs to find out all after making many suitable errors. 
Self replication, protein making, energy handling, materials input output and errors ( what more?) , these are basics to describe a living robot.
